From corgis and chihuahuas to cocker spaniels and chinooks, all dogs are welcome at a new five-star dog hotel in Coleraine.
Alpha 1 Dog Hotel opened in April of 2018 after receiving £30,000 funding from the NI Rural Development Fund. It allowed owner Ian Eccles to create five luxury kennels as well as two larger state-of-the-art rooms. There are over 20 rooms in total.
"We've five dogs of our own and it was one of those things, where do you leave them when you go away on holiday?" he said.
"We've only five luxury kennels and they're booked out nearly all of the time.
They're rooms with glass patio doors on them. They've got underfloor heating and they can sit and watch DVDs on a 55-inch plasma TV.

Nellie and Otis have just returned from their 17 night stay! I can’t thank Ian and the team enough, I was so worried as Nellie can be very nervous but I had absolutely nothing to worry about they both got on great. Otis is still only a pup at 6 months old and he didn’t want to leave he was ready to head back in and stay another night 😂 it’s great knowing your dogs are well looked after here gives you great peace of mind! Will definitely be recommending and using again in the future!
My dogs are both 9 years young and they have just had their first ever stay away from home this weekend. Needless to say they loved their time away, meeting new people and socialising with other furbabies. I can definitely recommend Alpha 1 Dog Hotel and I will definitely be using their services again. 🐶❤🐾💙 Even with complex medical conditions and daily meds to be given, nothing was to much trouble for Ian, Claire and the team. Highly recommend the V.I.P package. Your furbabies will love it too. 🐕🐕🐾🐾
Ian & Claire have been more than helpful when arranging a stay for our anxious dog - As well as a trial day to see how she got on (which she loved), they sent regular updates and photos whilst we were away which were a lovely touch! Tig did not want to leave when we came to lift her which speaks for itself - a fantastic set up with lovely people giving us full reassurance - Tig cannot wait for her next holiday!

I can't say how much this guy is a true gentleman with dogs , took my dog in when it escaped from garden and was found while I was at work , looked after her till I came got her and never asked for a penny , true animal person, thank u
